A blog by Joe Caponi about beers and wines, particularly those from Long Island, along with a variety of other comments. This blog was primarily active from 2002-2006, when I was making it out to more wineries and brewpubs!

Long Island 'Brew Food' Roundup

The Long Island Press has a quick roundup of our one brewery and four brewpubs on Long Island. I give Southampton the edge on both food and beer (and scenery), but the four pubs are all alot of fun. I particularly like Octoberfest at Black Forest. Haven't actually visited Blue Point, but had their fine brews many times.

The article notes brewpubs were 'all the rage' on the island ten years ago. It's funny how the biggest, most advertised brewpubs (specifically Long Island Brewing in Jericho and Long Shore in Garden City) from then are gone, while these relatively quieter, more out-of-the-way places endure.
