A blog by Joe Caponi about beers and wines, particularly those from Long Island, along with a variety of other comments. This blog was primarily active from 2002-2006, when I was making it out to more wineries and brewpubs!

Harpoon
At Brightwaters Beverage, I found a new 12 pack from Harpoon, which included three each of the UPO, IPA, Ale and Munich Dark. Sure would make a nice gift, to give or to get!

Disney Wrap
And before Black Forest was Disney. Alot of work, but alot of fun. Our favorite spots: the Buzz Lightyear ride (shooting Zurg and his minions), Soarin (virtual flying), Mickey's Philharmagic (great 3-d musical), and "It's A Small World," the boat ride whose theme song drove Hudson and Sam crazy.
On the food side, we had terrific dinners in Cinderella's Castle, the Liberty Tree tavern, and at the Coral Reef restaurant, which also had a good wine list.
But for beer and wine, the place to go was the Food and Wine festival at Epcot's World showcase, offering the top beers and a good selection of wines from 25 nations.

Black Forest Wrap
We closed out Black Forest Brew House Octoberfest for another year a couple weekends ago. Black Forest was busy in four different areas of the brewpub all at once: in the Sunday buffet; at the bar for the football game; out on the deck with the Octoberfest food and beers; and in the tent, where they'd put the band this year (good move).
And the Octoberfest brew was good too!

Just Budweiser being given away at this morning's Post Office 5k run, but who am I to begrudge a freebie? We actually had to run a shortened 4k course because of the widespread flooding we've had this week. But that managed to help me keep my pace under 9 minutes/mile!

Octoberfest Long Island
Last weekend at Black Forest, and a dinner coming up at Southampton Publick House on October 27.
